Where We Work
Charity law doesn’t travel well across borders โ what qualifies an organization for tax-exempt status in one country can mean nothing in another. GiveNGrow works across nine markets, and we track the regulatory landscape in each one.
Regulations change, and this page is a starting orientation, not legal advice โ always confirm current requirements with local counsel before filing anything.
๐จ๐ฆ Canada (Headquarters)
Home base for GiveNGrow. Charitable registration runs through the Canada Revenue Agency’s Charities Directorate; nonprofit incorporation is available federally under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act or through the provinces.
๐บ๐ธ United States
Federal tax-exempt status is granted under IRS Section 501(c)(3), layered on top of state-level nonprofit incorporation โ a two-step process we help clients navigate end to end.
๐ฌ๐ง United Kingdom
Charities in England and Wales register with the Charity Commission once they cross roughly ยฃ5,000 in annual income (Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own separate regulators).
๐ฆ๐บ Australia
The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) is the national regulator โ registration is voluntary but required for tax concessions and Deductible Gift Recipient status.
๐ฆ๐ช UAE
One of the more tightly regulated environments we work in: under Federal Law No. 3 of 2021, fundraising is restricted to licensed charitable and humanitarian entities, and individuals cannot independently solicit donations. We help clients understand exactly what’s permitted before they start.
๐ซ๐ท France
Most nonprofits register as an association loi 1901 โ a declaration filed with the local prefecture, followed by publication in the Journal Officiel.
๐ฉ๐ช Germany
Organizations typically register as an eingetragener Verein (e.V.) with the local Amtsgericht (registry court), then apply separately to the Finanzamt for gemeinnรผtzig (charitable) tax status.
๐ธ๐ช๐ณ๐ด๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ซ๐ฎ The Nordics
Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland each maintain their own national association registry and tax authority โ Norway’s Frivillighetsregisteret, run through the Brรธnnรธysund Register Centre, is a good example of the region’s approach: streamlined, digital-first, and designed to simplify the relationship between voluntary organizations and government.
๐ต๐ฐ Pakistan
Nonprofits can register several ways: as a Section 42 company limited by guarantee through the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, or as a trust under the Trust Act, 1882. Organizations receiving foreign funding face additional compliance requirements โ an area where experienced guidance matters most.
